Pastor Mariano was born in 1836.  Pastor Mariano's father was Justo Pastor Frías Avila and his mother is Manuela García y Rodriguez.  His paternal grandparents were Pedro José Frías Araujo and Justa Avila y Paz. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Pedro Antonio, Justo Pastor, Pedro Tomás, Domingo, Pastor Fernando, María Catalina, Justa Juana, Manuela, María Justa and Isabel.  He was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.  Pastor Mariano is no longer alive.
