Sofía Eloísa was born in 1887.  Sofía Eloísa's father was Estanislao Frías Piñeyro and her mother was Petrona María Piñeyro Ruiz Huidobro.  Her paternal grandparents were Estanislao Frías Molina and Eloisa Piñeyro García. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Miguel Alfredo Estanislao, Raúl Estanislao, María Margarita and María Adela.  She was the oldest of the five children.
